Cultivating Slow-making: Botanical Printing on Clay

This 3-hour workshop will explore the mindful practice of clay making. Learn the basics of imprinting botanical forms and textures into clay to create your very own functional forms or decorative objects. Learn the art of rolling out clay and impressing plants or other decorative stamps. All clay, firing and glazing is included.

Please note MJAC will organise the final glazing of the pieces. Works will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after your class.

Join fibre artist Martien van Zuilen for a full day of felting on a precious scale! Combining the softness of wool fibres and the cool potential of wire, you will learn innovative techniques to make uniquely shaped adornments suitable for brooches, bangles, earrings and more.

No previous felting experience necessary.

All materials supplied

Requirement: all participants will need to bring their own metal knitting needles in a variety of sizes.

Spoon Carving | Mental Health Week

Learn how to carve your very own wooden spoon in a relaxed and positive environment.

Carving wood for some, is a creative and mediative process that you can do just about anywhere.

Neil Gray from (@greenwoodadventure) will guide you through the steps and techniques to carve a spoon from a wooden blank using only two knives. You’ll come out of this workshop with your personalised wooden spoon and the confidence to practise again and perhaps attempt other forms. In this calm setting Neil's calm nature will make it easy for you to gain the fundamental skills to get you started on your carving journey. Get ready!
