Mastering Coloured Pencils with Marie Haass

Master coloured pencils in just three hours with exhibiting artist Marie Haass. Marie will work through a variety of demonstrations and exercises to reveal the incredible qualities of this humble medium. New skills will culminate into a resolved artwork finished on the day. Participants are asked to bring in a sentimental object as well as an A4 black and white photograph/photocopy of the object to reference.

How to Start an Oil Painting with Harrison See

Join local artist Harrison See for a live stream from his studio as he starts an original oil painting. Perfect for beginners, in this 90 minute demonstration you will learn about Harrison and his unique approach to a blank canvas. You’ll tour his studio, learn about his chosen tools, paints and mediums and see works in progress before getting started on a new piece. Ask questions live and get the intel you need to work from home. Harrison’s step by step workbook will be provided after the demonstration.

- Boosting the skills and strategies of seeing, in order to draw with efficiency, speed, observational accuracy and purpose.
- The development of drawings as artworks in their own right.

CLAY BIRDHOUSES WITH LEE WOODCOCK

Local ceramicist Lee Woodcock will be showing us how to hand-build our very own clay birdhouse. With four walls, a roof and a little perch to sit on, this cosy home can be hung from a tree in your backyard. We’ll be using leaves and flowers from the garden to imprint and colourful clay slips to decorate. All materials and firing included.

Thursday’s Art Club invites you to get to know some of the animals on our State’s Threatened Species List in this painting workshop with artist and Illustrator Jae Criddle. Jae will show you how to draw and paint a range of interesting animals such as Blue Whales, Bilbies, Quokkas, Hairy Marron, White-bellied Frogs and Black-footed Tree-rats. Paint, pencils, and cartridge paper will be provided.
