Trek the Trail is on again! This year the walk is 7km from the beautiful John Forrest National Park to Swan View Station and return. Trek the Trail is Shire of Mundaring's free community event that takes place on a different section of the historic Railway Reserves Heritage Trail each year. Trek the Trail has something for everyone; physical activity, the arts, community activity, history and the natural environment.
This year participants can start from 8am and finish at 12noon. Along the way try your hand at natural puff ball dyeing with artist Heather Davis or natural weaving with artists Anne Williams and Marie Jacquier.
Swan View Station | Natural Dyeing with Heather Davis
Meet leading felt-maker and natural textile artist, Heather Davis as she cooks up a textile treat with a fun and educational fungi dyeing demonstration. This is a free demonstration and trekkers are invited to create a free sample. Silk scarves will also be available for purchase if you would like to try your hand at creating your own textile masterpiece to take home.
Hovea Falls | Natural Weaving and School Sculptural Installation with Anne Williams & Marie Jacquier
Meet fibre artists Anne Williams and Marie Jacquier as they invite Trekkers to create their own creature or bird using natural fibres and bush materials and make a community installation – a huge fibre nest. Take a break, admire the picturesque trail and see the beautiful installation created by Mundaring Christian College junior school students.
