A contemporary Hitching Post with a Historical Twist

Pop into the Mundaring District Museum to see the 'Historical Building Blocks' a contemporary Hitching Post with a Historical Twist by Sarah Zel Chescoe

Artist and designer Sarah Zel Chescoe has created this interactive Hitching Post to reference the history of Mundaring using images, documents & maps from the Mundaring Hills Historical Society Museum and the Visitors Centre.

Designed to be a contemporary reference to a functional Horse's Hitching post this artwork encourages the viewer to touch, twist and rotate the image blocks to create their own historical story by visually connecting snippets of history.

Sarah Zel Chescoe has enjoyed working alongside Brian Payne from the Mundaring Community Men's Shed on this public art project which incorporates 22 x Recycled Mundaring Jarrah Blocks, 88 x Digitally-Printed Perspex Images and 352 x Brass Screws in the construction of this work.
