An elemental infusion of fibres and earth, revealing the raw origins of plants and clay in a harmonious collaboration with nature. This exhibition nurtures connection to the natural landscape, encouraging exploration and evolving a deeper understanding of our place within it. Organic Matter explores the symbiosis of human-nature connection, through locally sourced materials and environmentally grounded creative practice, Pam Gray and Cathy Inman co-create, sharing their connection to the natural world and each other.

Inman and Gray’s artistic practices are deeply connected to their chosen materials of plant fibre and clay. Surrendering any preconceptions of outcome, they embrace the imperfect or inconsistent nature of working with natural materials holding space for the beauty that is inherent within these wild and earthly forms.

Having no formal training, both artists create instinctively whilst embracing the meditative quality of their chosen artistic process, allowing them a sense of fluidity, discovery and freedom in their creativity. The importance of connecting to place and the ethos of treading lightly is a strong element ever present in their work.

Having recently seeded their creative kinship, Inman and Gray share and innate trust and unspoken connection that has germinated into a rich collaborative practice. Within this exhibition, their individual practices, like their chosen materials, complement each other, and create beautiful new forms, echoing the symbiosis and regenerative transformation ever-present in the natural world.
