Artists in Focus
The Mundaring Arts Centre is proud to present this body of photographic work by selected members of the Mundaring Camera Club. The images displayed showcase different perspectives, the interplay of light and subject interpretation from each photographers’ view point and exemplify the meaning of photography “drawing with light”. The word “photography” was created from the Greek roots φωτός (phōtos), genitive of φως (phōs), “light”, and γραφή (graphé) “representation by means of lines” or “drawing”, together meaning “drawing with light”.
Formally known as Swan Hills Photographical Society, the Mundaring Camera Club is one of the oldest in WA, having been in existence since 1962. The purpose of the club is to learn and grow photographical ability in the local community and have fun at the same time.
The Club currently has 22 members ranging in skills from expert to beginner, with the more experienced photographers encouraged to share their knowledge through a positive learning environment. The Club meets monthly for competitions with guest professional judges, and offer a range of workshops, events and tutorials. Every month sees a new idea or approach that refines photography just a bit more. These refinements contribute to continued learning and growth for the photographer.
