Deadly Denim Jackets with Rebecca Rickard

Up-cycle an old, unused or op-shopped denim jacket, adorning it with amazing First Nations designs in this 3h workshop with Deadly Denim’s Rebecca Rickard. Learn to design, cut and sew new deadly panels on your jacket, choosing from a wide range of fabric designs from Remote Aboriginal art centres. Open to participants of all abilities. BYO Jacket.

Deadly Denim was founded by Rebecca Rickard a Ballardong, Whadjuk woman from the Nyungar nation living and working on country Perth WA. Her clothing pushes for sustainability in the fashion industry and showcases Indigenous art and design.

This workshop is held in conjunction with the Snart Club exhibition Tend/er, a thoughtful exploration of care and community.

Food for Thought at Mundaring Markets

Visit the Food for Thought Bazaar in the Mundaring Sculpture Park or wander down to Mundaring Arts Centre to experience a Kung-Fu tea ceremony, share delicious bush tucker and create your own food vessel as we start a community journey exploring how food shapes our culture, experiences and art.

Nestled within the Sunday Markets, which brings a range of yummy food, live music and market stalls to the heart of Mundaring, the Food for Thought Bazaar will showcase the work of local artisans and fine food providores.

Take part in a traditional Taiwanese Kung-Fu Tea Ceremony with Carol Natalotto. 

Slow down and join Carol in one of three 20 minute sessions as she shares her tea making skills and knowledge of tea houses and ceramic tea wares.

Have a Go | Clay Plates

Have a go at making a small decorated serving dish from clay with local artist Bernard Kerr.

You’ll make a rectangular or oval dish, perfect for serving tapas, side dishes or snacks by press moulding using a wooden form. Decorate your plate with coloured underglazes and slips using cut paper resist and sgraffito techniques.

Mundaring Repair Lab

Repair Lab is a community initiative to help people fix their belongings and save things going to landfill. Skilled volunteers will help you with repairs of clothing, textiles, bikes, furniture, jewellery, electronics which run on batteries (below mains power), general household items. If you're unsure, bring it down and we'll see what we can do! Repair Lab is a free, family friendly community event for people to bring along their broken items to be fixed, with the help of our skilled volunteers.
