Tiny Clay Houses with Kaitlyn Elsegood

Build a house out of clay inspired by Michelle Campbell's exhibition Urban with Kaitlyn Elsegood in the July school holidays. Drawing from the houses in Michelle's paintings, their own home, or their imagination, kids will learn ceramic hand building techniques to make a small house in this fun, hands on workshop. 

Works will be decorated with coloured slips, fired and ready to pick up 4 weeks after class. Please wear closed in shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting clay on. Spots are limited!

Sgraffito Snack Bowls with Bernard Kerr

Have a go at making a bowl from clay these school holidays with local artist Bernard Kerr. You’ll learn to hand build or press mould your own bowls perfect for snacks and dips as a part of the Food for Thought Project. Decorate your bowl with colourful underglazes and slips and even sgraffito techniques to scratch back into the colour.

Selected pieces will be showcased in an exhibition as a part of the Food for Thought project.

Works will be fired and ready to pick up 3 weeks after class (just in time for Mother's Day!) Please wear enclosed shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting messy, a drink bottle and a nut free snack.

Have a go at making a small decorated serving dish from clay with local artist Bernard Kerr.

You’ll make a rectangular or oval dish, perfect for serving tapas, side dishes or snacks by press moulding using a wooden form. Decorate your plate with coloured underglazes and slips using cut paper resist and sgraffito techniques.

Join Surface Tension artist Andrea Vinkovic to hand build your own sculpture in clay. Andrea’s ceramic sculptures are inspired by microscopic images of pollens, planktons, molecules and natural structures. Her skill and love of this natural ancient material is sure to have you exploring your ideas in 3D.

Works will be glazed and fired by MAC technician (choice of clear or white) and available for collection 17 – 22 December.

CLAY BIRDHOUSES WITH LEE WOODCOCK

Local ceramicist Lee Woodcock will be showing us how to hand-build our very own clay birdhouse. With four walls, a roof and a little perch to sit on, this cosy home can be hung from a tree in your backyard. We’ll be using leaves and flowers from the garden to imprint and colourful clay slips to decorate. All materials and firing included.

Thursday’s Art Club invites you to get to know some of the animals on our State’s Threatened Species List in this painting workshop with artist and Illustrator Jae Criddle. Jae will show you how to draw and paint a range of interesting animals such as Blue Whales, Bilbies, Quokkas, Hairy Marron, White-bellied Frogs and Black-footed Tree-rats. Paint, pencils, and cartridge paper will be provided.
