Calling all makers to join the birdsong!
The Bird Makers Project is a Co:3 Australia global initiative devised by Artistic Director, Raewyn Hill and International Artist, Naoko Yoshimoto. In this FREE, 3-part video tutorial you will be guided by an expert bird maker to transform an item of black clothing into a black bird, destined for the stage in 2021!
The Bird Makers Project metaphorically expresses the hidden narratives and embedded memories of humanity through the fabric of the clothes we wear every day. Workshop participants are asked to bring their personal story of migration, isolation, or a meaning behind the garment used to create their black bird.
For Western Australian residents, your bird will be collected and become part of a flock of 1001 birds used in the set of Artistic Director Raewyn Hill’s new work, ARCHIVES OF HUMANITY, premiering in 2021. Mundaring Arts Centre is a Bird Makers Project collection point, you are welcome to take your finished bird and story there so it may join the flock.
